Extra-flat ultrasonic sensor UF200 by Baumer: Minimized blind range, maximized performance

The UF200 family with NexSonic technology is the latest newcomer to the next generation in the Baumer toolbox of ultrasonic sensors, characterized by best-in-class performance and smart functions.

With this particularly flat UF200 ultrasonic sensor, Baumer again is moving the boundaries in terms of what is feasible in object detection and distance measurement: with merely 20.5 mm, new UF200 is the flattest ultra-sonic sensor for front mount with very short blind range. With up to 2000 mm detection range, UF200 will even master applications that previously failed because of insufficient installation space.

Innovative sensor design for improved engineering freedom

To provide such freedom, the Baumer design engineers rethought the ultrasonic sensor concept and fully exploited what is feasible in terms of electronic layout and programmed algorithms. The result: pioneering NexSonic technology, innovative sensor design with specialized ASIC (Application-Specific Integrated Circuit) and dynamic signal evaluation that takes ultrasonic technology to the next performance level. No other product with the detection range of UF200 features a shorter blind range. Baumer has also set a new record in terms of response time: up to 10 ms, reason why UF200 allows for significantly higher processing speed.

Ultrasonic sensor portfolio with cutting-edge technology

UF200 is the latest member to the new NexSonic generation of the Baumer toolbox of ultrasonic sensors that is characterized by best-in-class performance and smart functions. With the new ultrasonic technology, Baumer again is proving how true innovations provide users with added value. The ultrasonic sensor toolbox comprises the five product families UF200, U300, U500, UR12 and UR18 that differ in design and size. While UF200 is for front mount, U300 (cubic) and UR12 (cylindrical) even fit in a particularly tight installation space. U500 (cubic) and UR18 (cylindrical) are extremely robust.

Measurable added value in every application

Thanks to smart filter options via IO-Link interface, the NexSonic ultrasonic sensors are reliable in any situation. Two examples: easy detection of difficult objects or into narrow openings thanks to adaptive sonic cone. In point level detection, the intelligent disruption filter ensures that agitators or other interfering objects will not impair the measurement result. This way, a single sensor will reliably fulfill several application requirements and reduce the number of variants.
